Quackery and Medical Mistakes: People make mistakes. Scientists make mistakes. We do our best to try to survive the illnesses we get through good medicine. Unfortunately, much of the "good" medicine of past centuries was dangerous, and sometimes even deadly. In this class we will work with the book Quackery to understand those mistakes, and we will spend time assessing the different kinds of errors in logic that today's world regularly uses, especially on social media. You will discover that there is always someone in the world who is, deliberately or not, exercising quackery-and that through the study of the Liberal Arts, we can learn to spot it.
