This special topics seminar will review contemporary scholarly research to explore the underlying factors influencing psychopathology and resilience through childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. We will work together to define and apply frameworks of psychopathology to better understand pathways to adaptive and maladaptive behaviors. Students will learn to explore how developmental mechanisms impact the onset and progression of psychological disorders, including (but not limited to) anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism, post-traumatic stress disorder, conduct disorder, and antisocial behaviors.
