Pirates and the Making of the Caribbean World: This seminar considers the early history of the colonial Caribbean from the perspectives of pirates, slaves, privateers, and runaways of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Such a volatile world became fertile ground for maritime renegades of various kinds: interlopers, privateers, pirates, and maroons. It also opens up challenges and opportunities for women.
