Special Topics course taught by the visiting Fulbright professor from Mexico: Indigenous Rights in the Americas. This course outlines the historical and political struggle of indigenous people for the recognition of their ethnic rights in Latin and Anglo America. Cultural policies towards natives are compared in order to understand the similarities and differences between indigenous demands and to grasp the various strategies indigenous peoples have followed to make themselves visible to the world. Special attention is paid to the Mexican case.
