Special Topics course taught by the visiting Fulbright professor from Mexico. Who are the Mexicans? Do they have a singular collective identity? Do they feel a sense of belonging-of being part of the whole? In this course we focus on the mechanisms involved in the construction of identities. We pay particular attention to Mexicanhood, a political and civic identity connected with the development of nationalist discourses throughout Mexican history.
