This special topics course explores the ability of plants to perceive and adaptively respond to their environments. We will use popular science writing and recent research articles to understand whether/how plants see, smell, feel, taste, and hear and how they might adjust their behavior based on these senses. Through this approach we will discuss relevant aspects of plant physiology and ecology. Prerequisite: BI-101 or BI-105.
