This course asks "what counts as real" as a way to examine reality television. Students will determine what "counts" by learning descriptive statistics and learning how to make data visualizations of their statistical analysis. Through in-depth analysis of the history and current practices of reality television, each student will create a final project including a professional slide deck, a presentation, and an interpretive analysis of the values of their show as expressed in the television edit.
