This is a seminar for students to study the role Mexican food and its un/desirable effects on political and social culture in Mexico and the United States. For example, guacamole and margaritas have been at the core of culture and sport events to set up friendly settings on both sides of the border, but how do they effect sociopolitical behavior? To explore this general question in theory and practice, students will navigate through the evolutionary developments of Mexican cuisine to determine the ways food is delicious for the U.S.-Mexico palate. The course relates to Mexico and/or to U.S.-Mexico relations.
