
This course examines the theory and practice of intercultural communication in today's globalized world. Through readings, discussions, and case studies, we will develop our understanding of different cultural perspectives and communication styles, and will learn strategies for effective intercultural communication in various global contexts. Topics include but are not limited to use of language, body language, understanding of authority and leadership styles, value dimensions, and cultural patterns such as time, responses to change, and direct and indirect ways of communication in different cultures around the world. In addition to academic research, this course exposes students to international case studies, and cultural products such as advertisements, stories, films, political speeches and narratives, etc.
