"What's So Funny?" - This FYC course uses the liberal arts to explore humor in its many forms. The class investigates jokes, comedy, wit in conversation, visual gags, and the regrettable times when humor goes too far. Along the way we will discover what psychology and neuroscience have learned about humor and laughter. The history and anthropology of humor across time, geographies and cultures will be vital to our inquiry. We will also consider examples of humor in drawing and painting as well as in music.
